Shinebright: Silver and Laneah Empty Shinebright: Silver and Laneah

My first try on a story. It is the story of Shinebright and how her parents met.

It was a good night for the Hunt! Fresh kill was needed and it seemed the bucks made it easy for them. Some complained it was too easy, the thrill wasn't there. But Silver didn't mind. All he wanted was enough fresh meat for the youngsters.
It seemed cubs were born less and less. Recognition didn't happen as much as it used to. The last time was..... He frowned, he could not remember when Recognition happened the last time.
His memory had never been good and at times that was frustrating, he usually forgot about the frustration and lived on as he always had. But this time he couldn't let it pass.

A full moon ago his sister had given birth to a double born, which was rare, but something was wrong from the beginning, one cub was stillborn and not long after the other cub had died as well.
They had howled for the loss of life, the loss of new blood. Their numbers were still large, but more and more were getting old, the wolfblood was too strong for some. He vaguely remembered a younger brother and although he forced himself to get killed, he had already been an old wolf near death.
Silver on the other hand still felt young and alive. His mother had been more wolf then elf, his father was a halfbreed, more elf then wolf, only accepted to the Hunt because he had Recognized his mother. That and because he was kin to Timmorn, a true son.

"There! Another buck! Do we need one more?" Silver woke from his pondering, the hunt waited!
It was getting away! "Quickly, this way! It ran off into the bushes!" Silver didn't take the lead, but let the youngsters go first. He already had his kill, now it was the time to let them prove they were worthy to be part of the Hunt. **This way! Follow us, Silver! We can still catch him!** A young hunter called Sharptooth, full of excitement and his body all fired up, jumped over the bushes and was quickly out of sight, followed by the rest. Silver was in no hurry, still he wanted to keep up, just in case.

When he came to the river, something caught his attention. A movement on the riverside. Another prey? An enemy? He pointed his spear to the sound and.......
He stared in the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen, he felt being pulled passed them and flew into another world.

Laneah sat at the riverside. Fishing was her way of helping her group, she was a Healer, as was her father. In the middle of the night she had suddenly woken up with the feeling she should go fishing and she always followed her feelings, much to the tribes frustration. They had only recent migrated to this part of the forest, but somehow it felt right. As if they needed to be here.

"YESSS! Got you at last! You have made it a good game, my fishfriend!" She pulled up a large rainbowfish. Suddenly she heard something behind her, stomping hooves were getting closer, but she had no time to hide, no time to take cover.
A large buck jumped over the small river, only a few feet next to her. Scared she looked the way it had come. A predator must be nearby, only that could raise such fear in a large animal like that. But her feet were stuck to the ground, her heart was beating like crazy in her throat. She couldn't think any more. Couldn't move her feet.

She was not prepared to what she saw. Never in her life had she ever seen wolves like this! No, this couldn't be wolves, they ran by her, not even noticing she was there. They looked like her, but not quite. They had body hair, strange feet. Some even had some kind of claws and all of them had fangs. They were gone as fast as the buck had been.
She still stood there when another jumped over the river. This one was all silver, long legs and long arms, with thick hair that covered most of his body. She could not help but stare at him!
"Gasp", before she knew it, the wolf stopped mid-air.

Green eyes stared at her! Pierced thru her soul. Suddenly she felt free, wild and hungry for more.
**Koh** A strange name, yet she had always known it. It was his, all who he was and more. This strange wolflike elf with his green eyes. What was this? What happened? Recognition?

He stepped toward her, he looked just as surprised as she was! He stretched his arm to her, but stopped halfway. The next moment he was gone and she felt there were troubles. Pain and fear went through her soul.

She didn't think, when did she ever, and tried to follow the wolfling. Maybe she could help. It never crossed her mind she shouldn't follow...

Shinebright: Silver and Laneah Empty Re: Shinebright: Silver and Laneah

She felt the pain before she entered the clearing. The buck that had ran by her laid on the ground with several spears in his belly. She wasn't afraid of blood, she was a healer, but the amount she saw under the buck shocked her a bit. But she had no time to think! One of the Wolflings needed help, her help!
As she went closer she saw him lying on the ground close to the buck. No, not close, on it and covered with blood, one of it horns had rammed the Wolfling and had gone through him. Without thinking she pushed aside all who were in her path, not noticing the hostile and surprised looks. She immediately took the lead. "Gently, try to lift him and lay him there in the moss!"
When no one acted, she looked at them.....and their spears! She had not expected this! Why were they doing this, didn't they want their friend to get help? Be healed? **What is wrong with you?** She sent openly. **He needs help and I can heal him!**
A Healer, could this be? They had been without a Healer for many seasons, ever since they'd left the Wolfhunt. Some still had a strong sense of magic, but none really had any powers, and those few felt she was telling the truth. Carefully they pulled their friend up, grim looking when the wolfling screamed in pain. Even before they could lay him down, the strange elf started to heal him. All could feel the warmth of her powers, some even saw minor scratches be healed without her touch. A powerful Healer this elf was indeed!

Silver watched her closely. This strange elf was his Recognized. He hadn't Recognized before, never knew how it felt, but the urge was pulling him closer to her, so close he wanted to touch her, more then anything. And he did.
He fell into a different world, full of the stars of the night sky and there she was! She could not hear him, but knew he was there. He reached for her and felt the pain she shared with his Hunting brother, Fastpace. **Koh? Help me heal him, help me carry the pain from him so I can heal his flesh. He is close to death, but doesn't want to leave yet. He is weak and I fear I can't ......** He went closer to her until it seamed they were one. And in that one moment all things were said, nothing needed to be explained and the healing truly began!
What seemed a lifetime, was only half a day. The Hunt had gathered around the threesome, felt they shouldn't disturb what was happening, felt more was happening then just healing. But as they couldn't reach their Huntbrothers in sending, they had to wait till all was done.

He was helping her! This strange Wolfling was helping her heal the other! Her Koh! Yes, from the moment she looked in his eyes she had known, this was to be her Lifemate! Although he scared he with how he looked, so much more an animal the elf, she also felt his elfin-side, but it was his combined strength that drew her to him.  And now he helped her, made here stronger then before. She felt how the other one grew stronger, fought better for his life, he was open to her, willing to share more then he should. Slowly, but surely they felt the Healing was almost complete. She felt Koh calmly retreat and return to the physical world again. The Healing was done, the wound was close and the young man would live. But now she was tired, so  tired she laid down next to the man and fell asleep.

Questions, there would be enough questions for him to answer, but he wasn't sure he was willing to answer them all. "Not now!" He said, before they could even ask. "Fastpace and the Healer need to rest. When all is taken care off there will be enough time for questions and answers"  He sat down next to the two, while others started to take care of the buck and other prey they had caught that night. A fire was made and poles hung above them, swift and clean the hide was pulled of and meat cut into smaller pieces so it would be easier to take with them. All came by to see who the new elf was, some never had seen a true elf and wondered how those fragile creatures could have survived that long. But this one had shown great powers, Healing powers. They didn't understand magic, just knew it was there. Knew it was important for elves to survive this harsh world.
